Five drawing details that cut fastener cost
Small changes to tolerances, radii and thread lengths that make custom fasteners cheaper to make.

Design for manufacture
- Open up tolerances that do not affect function.
- Add a radius under the head instead of a sharp corner.
- Use standard thread lengths where possible.
- Choose a material that can be cold-headed rather than machined.
- Specify the finish by standard, not by supplier name.
Ask before you freeze the design
Our engineers review every drawing before quoting and will point out where a small change can save cost without changing how the part works.
